The 'Cast Iron Plant' gets it's name for how tough & hardy it is! It can be used in places where all other plants fail. This virtually hassle-free, leafy evergreen will tolerate a range of growing conditions including heat, aridity, & dry shade. It can reach up to 2' tall with a spread of 2-3'. While it can bloom, this plant is grown for its showy foliage.
 
As a house plant, Aspidistra is best for low-light situations. Looking for a tall, lush plant to make a statement well inside a room? This is the plant for you! It doesn't need to be close to a window & is so easy any plant beginner can take care of it!
 
Outdoors, the 'Cast Iron Plant' is excellent for those difficult-to-fill areas in deep shade, spreading gently by underground stems. It is always green, long lasting, & can be used in areas where all else fails. Aspidistra can handle deep shade under deck stairs or along foundations that receive almost no sunlight. Plant it with a Strawberry Begonia! Both will tolerate shade perfectly! The Aspidistra will create a tall, leafy, & lush statement piece with the Strawberry Begonia closer to the ground as a mat like ground cover. What a pair!
 
Once established, water occasionally. Increase watering during hotter months.
