Helleborus 'Frosty'
6" HELLEBORUS 'FROSTY'
Christmas Rose
USDA Zones 4-9
This ericsmithii hybrid has beautiful dark green foliage & blooms white flowers with dazzling yellow centers. The bulb blooms December through April, producing single flowers at a time continuously through the season. This hellebore thrives in partial shade with a rich, moist free draining soil. Plant it in your garden, patio container, or indoor arrangement. When planted in ground, like most hellebores, your plant will spread seed & as the flowers die back during the summer your plants will come back more & more every year, eventually creating a sea of hellebores with fantastic blooms. During the late spring, remove the old faded flower stems & old foliage to encourage next year's new growth.
Hellebores are awesome to grow in your garden or containers because they are low maintenance, disease & pest free & with a simple trim back of last year's foliage they will last year round! They can adapt to almost any growing conditions. They prefer rich, moist, organic soil but will also grow in sandy or clay matter. They can even withstand periods of drought once established. Hellebores are shade plants that need to be protected from hot afternoon sun. They thrive under large deciduous trees as long as they receve full sun from winter to spring before trees get their leaves. To increase the number of hellebores in your garden, mulch them in the fall. The new seedlings will grown in this mulch come spring & can then be transplanted elsewhere in the garden.
**BE CAREFUL! HELLEBORES ARE POISONOUS!! Do not consume any part of the plant.
