3 GALLON VARIEGATED GINGER SHELL PLANT Alpinia zerumbent ‘Variegata’ USDA Zones 8-11 (winter Hardy 8-10) This herbaceous perennial is grown for its variegated foliage and beautiful flowers. It is frequently used as an annual in colder climates. This ginger shell plant grows in upright clumps from fleshy rhizomes that look and smell like that of culinary ginger. It’s lance shaped leaves grow up to 2 feet long at intervals along the stems. At maturity it can grow to be around 3 or 4 feet tall. The leaves have a considerable amount of variegation with mostly green leaves with creamy yellow or gold stripes. LIGHT Full to partial sun WATER Water regularly to keep soil surface moist, but not soggy SOIL Average soil; special mix can use flower and rose food You will receive a 3 gallon size plant bare root without a pot.
